Business Arising from Minutes

Staff Reports

 

6.1
Potential Recreation Position

 

Council has approved a 6 month recreation position. Final touches are being done on the job description, then into posting, hiring and settling into position. Would like to see how they input through the 6 months to continue position.

6.2
Arena Dehumidification

 

The replacement was approved through the Arena board committee. It will arrive in Simcoe Mid July and install August 9th into the arena. $240,000 was the original budget, but the quote came in at $120,000. Didn't get the grant for arena renovations. Now will be looking into the remaining reserves and Hockeyville funds for renovations. Possible options of floor hockey once the system is in and during off time.

Pool Fees/Donation

 

With some wonderful donations this year for Aquafit and open swims, there were discounted fees for the year. The committee would like to look into the potential for swimming lesson supplemental costs, swim to survive could be possible next year, look into jump start or similar as well.

New Business

Pool Programming

 

New programs this year parent/tot and adult skills, swim team is back as well. Lessons have moved to the evening as per the survey results. Aquafit has stayed at twice a day everyday of the week. Sponsored swims on the weekend that we are still looking for sponsors for.

Canada Day Update

 

There is lots going on with Canada Day planning. Legion color guards, fire department, library, bouncy castles, petting zoo, bubble soccer, lawn bowling, EarlyON, Kiwanis book drive, dance essence, legion line dancers, Zumba with Sharon, DJ Alpha, and local singers. Festivities start at 3pm.
