2025 Pool Operations

 

Staff is working on scheduling and lesson plans to be brought forward when available.

Arena Update

 

March 31st the ice came out. Dehumidification plans are hopeful for this year, just waiting to hear back from a grant that was applied for last year. Some interest in programming would be indoor ball hockey. Also inquiring about the hockeyville funds, and an open house to be scheduled.

2025 Summer Students

 

Staff had a great selection this year from applicants. All are returning students with 1 new addition to the pool.

Recreation Position Update

 

This position is going to council with budget. There was an ad out for clerk/CA assistant which is completely separate from this position. The position would be recreation based but with communications added to it. Once a decision has been made a job description would be brought back to the committee if the position is approved. Postings are generally out for a month, and we could potentially have someone in place this year. If it is not approved, then the committee may look at being on hold.

Canada Day Sub-Committee Update

 

Meeting on friday at 11:30 to go over details. Bouncy castles are reserved but will have times to them later. Looking for volunteers and timelines.

Round Table Items of Discussion

 

Many ideas were brought forth to look towards. Grants for basketball nets (Rodney before skate park and West Lorne by tennis courts). Work with the park revitalization group. Make a master sheet of West Elgin recreation assets and how they are used. Youth member recruitment has been tough, so looking to a guidance councilor for someone that might be interested. A multipurpose court for 2026. Wish list items to add to the asset list. How we could fundraise as a committee. Pool donations.
